What Can I Do About Anger?

  • Understand that there are reasons that you feel angry.

  • Recognize when you may need to take a break.

  • Try not to hide your feelings of anger. Telling people how you feel helps them understand what is bothering you.

  • Recognize when you feel anger and name the emotion. When you do not recognize your angry feelings it can continue to eat away at you.

  • Find someone that you can talk to about your feelings.

  • Understand that there are reasons that you feel upset.

  • When you are angry, sometimes removing yourself from the immediate situation for a short period of time can be helpful. It is good to recognize when the situation is getting out of control and you may need to take a break.

  • Try putting yourself in the other person's shoes. Looking at the situation from another person's point of view can be helpful.

  • Anger can motivate you in healthy ways to take action, to find out more information or to make positive changes in your life. Try to use the anger you are feeling towards positive changes.
